CaboVerdeDiving was established in 2001 and is based at two Dive Centres in Santa Maria on the island of Sal.
We are open to all the divers who wish to enjoy the wonders of the submarine realm, including people who have no experience or a diving certificate. The ocean allows you to dive all the year around, however, if weather conditions dictate, we can move to a variety of sites that provide natural shelter.

We operate from the Djadsal, Crioula, Farol Hotels but work with many other hotels in Santa Maria, including the Ojo D’agua, Morabeza and Pontao Hotels offering diving courses and guided dives.  A free trial dive is available for those who want to try scuba diving for the first time. We will be happy to discuss individual requirements and help wherever possible.

We can pick up and drop off the guests from their hotels in Sal and take them to the diving centre.  There is no charge for this service.

We have 3 different pools for the courses and one is 3 metres deep which is perfect for training.

We organize a double dive every morning the meeting time at dive centre is 08.40 and we return at between 12.30 and 1:00 pm after 2 dives.  

We offer for rent a considerable range of equipment for our customers including:
snorkelling kits (mask, snorkel, fins), suits, jackets, regulators, masks, fins with straps, shoes, boots, torches, steel tanks of 10/12/15 litre. (int/din) and compasses. Our diving facilities include: Classroom, Reception, Compressor room with 2 compressors, Equipment room, Maintenance Workshop, Equipment storage and Locker room with hot shower and we operate 2 RIBs (rigid inflateable boats).

Diving is provided for all levels of competence (or indeed none!) i.e.

For those without any experience. If you have never dived and you want to see what it is like underwater, don't worry, hold the Instructor’s hand and we will take care of you, allowing you to discover submerged wonders!  

How much time do you need? Just a single day and without the requirement of a license! Don’t worry; this is an incredible, easy, beautiful experience and, above all is great fun, in fact unforgettable!

For those wishing to become a diver. If you desire to become diver, you can be instructed and finally take the PADI Scuba Diver International Certificate. In order to learn the dive techniques, two days, not necessarily consecutive, will be enough: two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon. You will then become a certificated diver and you will obtain a recognized license which is recognized all over the World.

For those with some experience If you have only a little dive experience or has it been a long time since your last dive perhaps you would like to refresh your skills? We can run through the procedures for you and then take you diving.

For those who wish to widen their experience Why not widen your experiences with advanced and specialty courses? You will discover new adventures and broaden your knowledge of the aquatic world.

The Courses we offer

PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
An Open Water introduction for people without a license - approximately 4 hours

PADI OPEN WATER DIVER
2nd level certification, qualifies divers to a maximum depth of 18 meters - approximately 3 days

PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER
Advanced certification, qualifies divers to a maximum depth of 30 meters -requires 5 dives in a minimum of 3 days

PADI RESCUE DIVER
rescue course - approximately 4 days

PADI DIVEMASTER
underwater guide - approximately 4 weeks

DIVES - General information

These are some beautiful dives that you will be able to experience with us.
We dive every day, morning and afternoon, and can organize night dives and dive packages (6 or more dives). There are different seasons for the dives.  Between March and May it is possible to see whales and between July and November it is possible to see whale sharks and mantas.  There is no rainy season in Cabo Verde and we therefore dive all year round.  Hump Backed whales have just been seen on the coast and it is common to see mantas, morays, turtles, lots of different types of sharks and large schools of fish.  In addition, there is a range of corals to see.

Our recommended dive sites around Sal which include wrecks, wall dives, pinnacles and caves;

Choclassa Situated approximately 4 Km from the island of Sal ; the depth ranges from 300 metres up to 14 metres. A variety of dives may be performed according to depth range, allowing you to see moray, tuna fish, marlin, pelagic fish, turtles, lobsters, stingray, various mantas, sharks and whale sharks.

Cavala A fantastic wall dive that starts from 28 metres and descends until 65 meters, incredible encounters every kind of pelagic fish are common here.

3 Grutas A very easy dive with a maximum depth of 18 meters, with a wall and three splendid penetrable coves, from which emerge lobsters, slipper lobster, turtles and every kind of tropical fish.

S. Antao Wreck A commercial shipwreck, broken into three parts, lies on a sandy bottom and provides habitation for numerous kinds of fish. Encounters with big stingrays are frequent. Maximum depth 12 meters.

Buracona A very unique volcanic cove: Buracona was created as a siphon on the land, with an incredible tranquil atmosphere and spectacular displays of light; this is one of Sal’s most interesting dives.

Regona Consists in a labyrinth of caverns of various widths, with connections to horse shoe shape tunnels that emerge into the open sea: Nurse shark and crustaceans are often found in the caverns.
