Local Transport on the Cape Verde islands

Taxis are readily available on the larger Islands and are not expensive. However why not join the Locals and use the “Aluguars” usually pick-up trucks with bench seats in the back which constantly roam around popular areas seeking clients to take to wherever they want.

A very inexpensive and amusing (but not necessarily comfortable) means of transport!

On the more remote Islands, 4WD Aluguars can be chartered and in the absence of Car Hire facilites, this can be the best option. However agree a price before setting off!
