Situated
on Santa Maria Beach, adjacent to the Clubhotel Riu Funana, the new
Clubhotel Riu Garopa, which opens in November 2006 and has 500 rooms
including some suites, shares a number of facilities with the Funana.
These include the "Barracuda" dance bar, "Renova
Spa" Wellness Centre, Mini-club and children’s playground,
Hobby club and the "Pacha" Night Club (opened 6 days a
week).
The
All Inclusive Mealplan offers Buffet style breakfast, lunch and
dinner in a variety of restaurants with unlimited local beverages
(alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks) available at both hotel bars and
restaurants until midnight and at the night club until 2:00 a.m.
There
are organized entertainment programmes for children ages 4 to 12
(daily), daytime entertainment programme for adults (daily),
Activities Programme at the Hobby Club (six times a week) and Live
music, shows or Riu evening programme (daily). In addition there is
a huge selection of activities both on land and the water including
table tennis, workout, shuffleboard, airgun shooting, a Beach
volleyball court, 2 floodlit hard surface tennis courts (raquets and
balls available), a gym, jacuzzi and sauna plus Windsurfing,
kayaking, body boarding, snorkelling equipment and 1 introductory
scuba diving lesson in the pool.
All
rooms have bathroom with shower, hairdryer, telephone, central air
conditioning, ceiling fan, mini-fridge, satellite TV, in-room safe,
balcony or terrace and some can have an additional sofa bed.
Inter-connecting rooms can be reserved. The suites have in addition
a bathroom with hydro-massage bathtub and bidet and a separate
living room with sofa or sofa bed.

Opinion
Being adjacent to the Rui Funana
and sharing many facilities, the Riu Garopa complies with the Riu
"Clubhotel" philosophy and majors on activities for all
ages, providing entertainment and fun! Happily there is tons of room
and one can get away from too much activity and perhaps just relax!
Like the Funana it features Riu’s zany architecture.
