Opened
in October 2006, this 1000 room hotel is set in vast gardens adjacent to
the beach. Several two storey wings house the bedrooms each with en-suite
shower room, Hairdryer, telephone, central air conditioning, ceiling fan,
mini-bar, satellite TV, safe and balcony or terrace. Superior rooms, rooms
for the disabled and suites (some with Jacuzzi) are also available. Facilities
include complimentary sun loungers on the beach, a Beach Bar, Lobby bar,
Lounge bar, non-smoking restaurant with terrace, Theme restaurant, Games
room, Wellness Centre with different treatments, beauty salon and massages
(additional charge) also a complimentary gym, jacuzzi and sauna, Gift
shop, boutique/kiosk, Hairdresser and the "Pacha" night club. Activities
include Swimming pool and childrens swimming pool (heated in winter),
complimentary sun loungers, parasols and towels by the pool area, a
poolside snack bar /restaurant and a poolside bar with swim-up bar and Sun
terrace. Daytime entertainment programme for children aged 4 to 12
(daily), Daytime entertainment programme for adults (daily), Activities
programme at the Hobby Club (six times a week), Live music, shows or Riu
evening programme (daily). There
are Special Evenings, a Theme buffet twice a week, Optional dining and a
Grill room offering Seafood specialties. The Fully Inclusive service offers unlimited local beverages (alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks), available at both hotel bars and restaurants until midnight (at the night club until 2:00 a.m.), entrance to "Pacha" night club (open six nights a week) and features Sports and activities such as: Table tennis, workout, shuffleboard, airgun shooting, Beach volleyball, floodlit tennis court, Gym, jacuzzi and sauna, Windsurfing, kayaking, body boards, snorkelling equipment and 1 introductory scuba diving lesson in the pool Our Opinion A
huge hotel, but undoubtedly five star (except for the
lack of a silver service restaurant and room service) and typically
Riu in its slightly zaney architecture, attention to detail and quality
control. Rooms
are large and (unusually) have an en-suite shower (without a door), a
separate toilet and a wardrobe is behind a beaded curtain. As
there is little necessity to venture beyond the Hotels grounds, many
guests do not come to appreciate the real
