The
hotel consists of several buildings along the beach front very close to
the centre of town and offers 114 rooms with either sea or land view.
Most rooms have air conditioning and those without are less
expensive. In addition there
are some superior rooms (duplex, with sea view roof terrace) and
apartments which are ideal for families. Standard rooms are quite large
with en-suite shower rooms, TV, telephone and a small area overlooking the
sea on the common veranda.
Other facilities include an outside restaurant, an
upstairs terrace bar overlooking the sea, body-building room, a huge games
room with two full sized snooker tables, a night club with local music,
and a tennis court. It is a short walk across a public footway to the
Beach Club which has a bar and restaurant on the sands overlooking the
sea. For the more energetic there is a Scuba Diving Centre, a Fishing Club
and a Surfing Centre with both body boards and wind-surfing equipment
Our Opinion
Perhaps the
best 4 star hotel in the Archipelago.
It is one of the oldest but is very well maintained, constantly
up-graded and is very nicely run. The use of suites and apartments for
family groups is very economical. The elegant Terrace bar has great atmosphere and the Hotel’s position in the centre of the spectacular
Santa Maria beach is undoubtedly the best. Highly recommended.
Package Prices Winter 2008/9
Prices include economy seats on the scheduled flights of TAP Air
Portugal from Heathrow (or Gatwick) via Lisbon to Sal Island,
inter-Island flights as appropriate, all airport taxes, security and
fuel surcharges, transfers from Airport to Hotel and return, and 7
or 14 nights accommodation at the board stated, Visa fee and Local
representation. Club Class seats are available on International
flights at a supplement.
