Hotel Dunas do Sal ****(Superior) SANTA MARIA

This is a new hotel, opened in 2005, set one road back from the beach. The Standard rooms have full en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and a small area of the communal balcony for sitting in the sunshine.  The sea view rooms (same price but a little smaller) have a private balcony and facilities for communicating via the balcony wall for families.  There is a well equipped Spa which is open every day in the afternoon and has a sophisticated manicure/pedicure bed and Russian massage. Below the Spa is a well equipped gymnasium.  There is also a surfing and diving centre with a resident instructor who will instruct beginners on the first stages of SCUBA diving. 

The Restaurant has the facility to eat outside, overlooking the pool. The lounge, which is open on one side to the pool is the venue for the daily filmshow.

Our Opinion
Furnished in rather minimalist style this comfortable new hotel has very good facilities and is only a short walk from the beach. The Restaurant offers a la carte as well as table d’hote meals both at lunch and dinner. Very well run and highly recommended.
